Track system for cart cover
I'm having the top of my cart painted to match the body. With that said, I don't really want to use an "over the top" cover, I'd prefer to mount a track system type cover.
Well those are very expensive. I read all these threads where you guys make your own stuff so I figure y'all be the best ones to get suggestions, ideas from. I'm very handy and skilled with a sewing machine and a drill and can be very resourceful when necessary. I am thinking I can take apart the stitching of my current over the top cover and use the side panels. What I don't know is how to make a track then how to mount it. If I could get some pictures of one of the manufactured ones I'd probably be able to come up with something, but I have had no luck finding any on the internet. Any help, advice, suggestions and/or ideas are greatly appreciated. |

Re: Track system for cart cover
Track system - you mean like a shower curtain? Where you kind of pull it around the cart? I guess I've never seen this type of cover before. Sounds interesting.
What's wrong with a standard cover? Are you afraid it's gong to scratch the top of the cart? Ted |

Re: Track system for cart cover
They use that type system in tractor trailer truck cabs and motor homes. Hope you find something.

Yes Ted, I don't want to scratch the paint. Sunbrella makes one - about $400.00

Re: Track system for cart cover
Oh! you mean like an 'enclosure' - not really a cover.
Got it. T |

Yes!! Sorry, I guess it's too late to change the title of this thread. But that is right, I want to make a track system enclosure.

Re: Track system for cart cover
I have not seen the enclosure track system up close on a GC. But for the boat curtains they look like this. Is this the same/better/worse?
http://www.curtain-tracks.com/curtai...13c8k9q-sgu43p The best ones we have use a rib sewn into the curtain and slide in the track no hooks.. Great looking cart!! |

Re: Track system for cart cover
Thanks Spring, I guess a "rib" is something shaped like a dowel? The link you supplied is very helpful too. I am thinking along those lines.
I found this piece already bolted to the rear of my top, I have no idea what it is, but it's certainly a track of some sort. |

I think you would like the lower profile from the boat kind better. Also the rib curtain installers use is not a rod but a stiff round cord. Sorry iam not at the boat to show you. http://canvasdesigners.com/Products-...Y-Rigid?id=352 Look around these guys site for the enclosures. Really no up close shots of the track but it is what you are looking for iam sure. Also the track system does not have to be aluminum they have it in white. |

Re: Track system for cart cover
Thanks Spring, I will look at that link. Fortunately I live in a lake community so there are many boat dealers/shops very close to me. I'll go have a look at what they have.
I appreciate the lead as I would have never thought about marine type enclosure! One more question... what is the best way to "hook" the enclosure down at the bottom? When I hook the front part, I have to do so under the front fender well, and put something between the paint and the hook to keep it from scratching the paint. But down along the sides, I have the rocker panels. |
