Default Possible Golf Cart Dash Material ???

I was picking up some chick starter today. We are brooding chicks. I swore I would not do it again!

So I am walking through Tractor Supply Company and I saw this Goat Feed Trough. It is approximately 4' x 6" X 6" (I did not put a tape on it). I am sure it is made from HDPE, so it would be tough to get paint to stick to it. With a little planning and cutting, I think it has potential to make a good poor boy dash for my G1. At $15 how can I go wrong?

What do you guys think???

Well, I used to have a few goats. When you have goats and don't eat them or milk them, they are a black hole you are throwing your money into never to see again. My kids loved them, but the goats are kind of like a boat. The best two days are when you get them and when you get rid of them.

I need to put a tape on this thing and see how wide it is. My area for a dash is only about 38" wide. I have to go over to the farm store today to buy some grade 5 bolts for the Po' Boy lift I am putting on my cart. I will measure the trough then.

Looks like it has potential to make a decent dash! Does it only come in black? I got some special primer from an auto paint supplier to paint my plastic bumper aprons on my car. You could check your local auto paint supplier. I think they'll have what you need!

It seems cheaper than a real dash. Let us know if it works.

It is 37" wide, so in theory it will "fit" on my G1. It will take a little creativity to make it work. It does only come in black, but with the adhesion promoter I bet paint will stick to it. It will be a while before I am at that phase of my build. I will update when I decide exactly what I am going to do.

I am working on lifting my cart this weekend.

It looks thick enough. Maybe a little cutting here and there. What are you imagining to do? Do you want to make a flat dash like I have done or rest it in place and have the barrel/cup of it hold your stuff so it slides from left to right as you drive?

I am just not sure yet what I might do with it. My thoughts were to make a flat dash.

I was finally able to find some steel plate for free (the best kind). So now I can finish making my lift kit and get the old girl up in the air a bit higher. I will get back to the body work after that.
