Default Extra Support For The Roof

I have installed a roof rack on my cart and haven't driven it since i installed it. Wll i took it to my family's property and rode it around. In this i discovered with the added weight of the roof rack and rough terrian there is not enough support to stop the roof from shifting in ever different direction.

Does anyone know of a good way to help add som support to the roof by maybe fabricating new roof mounts or even making a cross bar of some kind?

I have incled a picture of my cart as it currently sits just so you can see exactly what im working with.

Been here done this many times..... you will need to fabricate angle brackets from the rear vertical supports to the seat hand or guard rails. Preferably at a 45* angle and welded in place. 1" square tube of the same size looks good and works well.

Thank you Scotty and PAPABEAR1 i didn't even think of that, i was thinking something more vertical from the back rest area. (shows how much i know) My only question is do you have any pictures of a cart you have done this to? I have some sort of idea od what you mean but im more of a visual person.

ScottyB is dead on, 45 degree is best. Just remember triangles are your friend when it comes to bracing. You can always run bracing and fill in with other tubes or expanded metal for holding fishing rods, hooks for hanging things on, lights, etc.

Good advice, I'd like to see pics of this bracing also. Uno, if you need some fab work done, I have a buddy who's a welder for CXS and likes to do fab/weld work on the side for little to nothing.

Thanks Joe i may have to take you up on that, my stepdad is my go to but he is back and forth to miami for work and im not the best welder in the world so i wouldnt mind having a pro do it. Im just interested in how it would go together because you will lose the arm rest any way i can picture it, unless its from the very top of the roof support to the very front of the arm rest to get adiquit support.

Ok, just let me know. He'll be coming by to help me with a role cage and turning an old cart frame into a "cart trailer". I'm not certain, but may Scotty was saying you could go from the rear vertical support down at a 45* angle to the guard rail of you flip seat. Is that rail any sturdier? I'm not sure how it would go to the hand rail on the front seat if that what he was referring to.
