Anyone shorten roof supports? For race trailer

I want to figure out a way to sleeve the roof support bars to be able to lower down the roof sot that my rxv can go "up" in my trailer. Today I have an old golf cart that we take the roof off of and loosen bars to be able to put up top in trailer which is a pain. With new cart have to remove bars and everything (they don't swing out the way).

Ultimately I'd like to be able to "sleeve" the roof supports and put pins in with cotters or something that we can just lower/insert pin for storage or running up on the lift, and then be able to raise up for the weekend at the race track.

Any help here appreciated and if you are in Atlanta and want to attempt this let me know :)

I "sleeved" a buddies canopy (roof, topper or whatever) and it turned out to be a pain to remove and reinstall,
Plus, it rattles like "all git out" while riding!

You could try this... from one of BGW's fine sponsors! XT Innovations (something I'm definitely considering!)

Thanks tip. How do I find that one in the video? You said from one of the sponsors but I don't know which one.

I don't mind sleeping and taking off and on nor rattling really. We only use at the racetrack. I do like the fold down better though from the video.

Thanks. I also emailed someone else from here that built their own. I'm shocked these are not more popular, I see guys at the race track all the time with the same problem, or they don't have a roof and this is why.

I looked at the hinges too.

I have a ST350 with 22" wheels. I have to take the roof off (it's sleeved and is noisy!!) The problem is that when the Workhorse is climbing on the trailer, I have about 24" of clearance above the seat.

Maybe one of these days, I'll get a taller trailer or set the monster up to lower itself to make that climb...

My issue is that with a 3 car trailer (2 up, 1 down) I have options, just none are good ones and while buying a new cart was a terrific idea (replacing a 86 marathon I have been using for racing since 1998 - yes really) this is a drawback.

Choice 1 is up on lift and then forward. This one requires today removing the roof and the bars completely and then strapping them down. This was at least easier with ol' reliable because the bars for the roof on the older ones with 1 turn of the bolts would swing down out of the way. On the new carts they are more fixed up and down which would require removing them entirely.

Choice 2 is put on lift and raise as high as I can above car on bottom and instead park a car forward "up". This option stinks because it is a heck of a lot easier to park 2 car on lift, raise up enough to strap down and then raise to transport height. Much easier then Up, roll forward and then strap down against solid floor. Only did this option once before going back to choice 1 PIA option.

Choice 3 - the golf cart fits on the bottom rolled forward between the cabinets that are in front of trailer. Great right? Not so much because his has to go in first before anything else and then the car on bottom (Viper ACRx) is the hardest car to strap down and requires climbing "through" the golf cart to get to front of viper to strap down. Also better hope we didn't forget anything or need anything in cabinets or tool boxes because we can't open anything when golf cart is there. This one is bigger PIA and since new cart has a rear seat the hole is very small now to climb thru. I'm not even sure I could do it even.

If anyone has more ideas I'm listening. I sent an email to the one mentioned above but need to work on backup plans :). Better yet, if anyone if Atlanta wants to cut/forge/figure out how to do it I am happy to compensate, beer or funds to have it done :)

i always had a plan to use the uprights from an e-z-up canopy and weld/patch them into some roof supports so it has push buttons to lower it down.
