will this idea work?
ok I have a lifted yamaha golf cart that i am putting a 500cc arctic cat fan cooled engine in. the problem is that the exhaust will not fit so i am going to make a custom pipe and header almost like a straight pipe that leads to a automobile muffler. is there any reason i cant do this? any input is welcome and appreciated. thanks

Re: will this idea work?
Most of the 2 stroke snowmobile motors are tuned with the exhaust pipe, they may not run right with out that stock exhaust with the expansion chamber (the fat belly in the middle of the pipe). I have seen people put 90degree bends coming off the manifold just to keep the stock muffler. 4 stroke motors are not that fussy, can run almost anything that lets the engine breath.

Hi Buddy, 2 stroke exhaust is tricky, but older less TUNED engines are easier to work with. Tell me more about the motor?

and is there an electric start kit i can get for this motor? i know its alot but thanks for your responses |

Re: will this idea work?
ok i got the wiring figured out except this little triangular shaped switch no idea what that is but i guess its of little importance only issue really stumping me is exhaust my header goes almost all the way to the place where your legs go. i could really use some pics of how peoples exhaust are ran if possible.

Re: will this idea work?
This is what I did on mine cause I used a 75 polaris 340 motor on mine. You can cut the exhaust and chop it down to size and reweld it. I had to do it but you have to be careful when welding the exhaust, well I did cause mine is older than jesus. That is how I got mine to fit then use header tape on it to keep it from melting the plastic body. I learned that late.
