Default roof lowering on lifted cart

Hi guys, I'm new so if this topic has been beat to death I apologize.
Anyway, found a great video a couple weeks ago on how to lower the roof in order to fit the cart in an enclosed trailer/toyhauler, etc.
Finished it up about a week ago and our maiden voyage was last weekend:

Welcome to BGW T11ravis!
And no... this subject has not been beaten to death!

For the last 4 years I've been wanting to get rid of my seasonal camper, and get a toy hauler,
and when XT Innovations (a fine BGW sponsor) came out with their roof lowering system, I was intrigued!
but, I was concerned that it wouldn't lower the roof of my cart low enough!
Then I saw the same video that T11ravis saw and realized that doing it yourself... you can lower it as much as you need!

By the end of this season (in just a few weeks) my seasonal camper will be pulled off the site and traded in,
and will hopefully have a toy hauler in spring 2015!
I won't do anything with my cart roof until I get my toy hauler,
But, I have a couple questions about this, and Swan... since your on BGW almost as much as I am,
(or to anyone else that has a toy hauler)

1) I understand that all toy hauler/enclosed trailers are different,
But, about what is the "average" height of the opening on a toy hauler/enclosed trailer?
(my cart stands almost 6'7"... ground to roof top)

and 2) Understanding the methods of either using retaining pins or bolts...
Do the roof struts/hinges rattle or make any kind of noise when riding off road?

My cargo trailer from the floor to the bottom of the roller spring is 70" ( toy hauler should be higher). my drop hinges are 6" long on a 4 bolt system. My roof line is 76" and drops 8 1/2 inches when its down. it would go more but the back bottoms out on the bag rack. any cuts you make in the window frame weakens it and yes it is more chance of noise when moving on a bump road or trail.

Thanks bud!

(had to get out my tape measure...)
6'7"= 79", 76"= 6'4" So, an 8" drop is definitely doable!
When the time comes... I'll look into it deeper,

All I know is... There is absolutely NO WAY I'm going without my roof and windshield!
I'll ride in all sorts of weather, and I've seen people with just a sports windshield that dread the cold, rain, and snow,
while I'm riding pretty cozy somewhat out of the elements!

sport windshields do look good but im with you , here in florida I wouldn't run around w/o a roof, you need it just to get out of the sun . when it comes hinge time and if you have questions ask away

The measurements I took were 66.5" on my T.H. and 65.5" on my 6x12.
I knew I had to lower it a good bit so I went with 15" pieces of steel which gave me approx. 12" of drop.
I looked at different pins at Lowes but didn't see anything I could really cinch down. The bolts and wingnuts are very solid when tightened, I can't tell any difference in noise.

I appreciate that Swan and T11ravis... thanks!

Some 6 years ago, (before I knew about the hinge mod) a buddy asked if I could help him with cutting his roof struts on his cart,
(Because, I'm crazy/GOOD with my Sawzall)
so he could fit it in his shed so, this (outside tent/storage) wouldn't happen again...

Canada 2006 & Misc. 062.jpg

He used solid aluminum sleeves, and unbolted/bolted them and completely removed his roof when storing/bringing out his cart,
It rattles to beat h#ll, and It's STILL a PIA for him to take it off and put it on!
and I'm not even going to bring up the hinge mod to him!

(He's one of those guys that you help, and help, and help... and get nothing in return!)

Anywhoo... it's just a matter of time!

Is that with the rear bed fully raised?

I'm thinking of a TH w/o out that bed... it's just me, and my cart!
