Do you have a volt meter?
If so measure across the battery pack, If you read 48 volts or above hopefully then I would think one of a few possibilities that could be the issue, the maintainer could be defective. It is connected to something other than the Entire battery pack or you have a bad battery or cell.

So If you test with a hand held meter across the pack and get over 48 volts and the two points you read this voltage is where your connecting the maintainer then that can eliminate those two possibilities.

Did you get over 48 volts across the entire pack? That is the important question.

A healthy fully charged pace should be higher. There is a chart here somewhere but it does sound like it isn't functioning correctly or you have a weak battery cell. I recommend getting your batteries tested, I prefer two test, a load test and hydrometer test.

Scott - way early in the thread you'll see he has non-golf-cart batteries. Maybe AGM's or something? That voltage is low to be sure, no matter what they are. But I'm not sure he can even check individual cells on the batteries he has.

no joesam.... these are sealed top batteries. Earlier on in this thread i had checked these, same 4 batteries...At that time ..these batts tested a solid 51 volts pack charge, 4-Alpha sealed top commercial 12 volt batteries bob s

ps Scott your right. No cell individually not even markings of cells.

That Maintainer should be able to charge those batteries also, check it to be sure but if it states it can, then you are back to your original thought, the maintainer has an issue.
