2 wire volt meter to 2 prong key switch. Sounds Simple
i bought a LED volt meter with only 2 wires and my key switch is only 2 prongs. i got it working but only reading 19 volts. (36v Cart). I've ran both of the meter wires to 1&6 to create the proper voltage but can't get it to shut off with the key by jumping neg to neg on the key, it keeps sparking. Any experience?

Re: 2 wire volt meter to 2 prong key switch. Sounds Simple
Do you have 36 volts pos on one lug of the key switch with key on? No volts with key off on that lug. If so hook the pos for the meter there. I think some carts have neg on key switch. If yours is neg hook the neg there. The other can go to main pack either neg or pos which ever is not hooked to key switch. Hope you can figure out what I'm saying.

On both my carts, I ran the wires straight to the pack with a simple toggle switch on one of the wires. Worked for me. Simple and and didn't have to attach to key switch or wire into cart harness.

Re: 2 wire volt meter to 2 prong key switch. Sounds Simple
I understand Mrgolf but i was worried about running 36v to the key switch. olman i was trying to keep everything key activated. Look at this picture i found on here and explain it please. Does this mean i run the pos from batt 1 to the key switch?

That photo is correct if you have pos voltage on key switch with key on on that lug.

NO.... It means that you already have pos voltage on one side of your switch, you would hook from the keyed side of the switch to the meter and the other side of the meter you run to the neg on the last battery in your pack..... Your meter will then turn on/off with the key switch...

The 82 model had negative at the key switch, so Your meter would be backwards as shown in your picture.
Meter positive goes to pack positiveIf You don't know which side of the key switch is the "cold" side, no big deal, just connect the meter to one of the sides and if the meter does not go off with the key switch off, just change the meter lead to the other side of the key switch. |

Battery #1 is the pack positive, is there where you had it plugged? It should be the same battery post connected to the charger socket positive.
