Digital Battery Meter .... optimal voltage range ...
I recently replaced my old “led bar” battery meter with a digital readout type. I wanted a readout that would give me an actual voltage reading indication of the battery pack (36v .. 6 x 6). The old meter was virtually idiot proof ... just keep it in the “green” led area. My question is what is the optimal voltage range that I need to be looking for on the digital readout. I’ve been told that a nominal voltage reading for the battery pack is the lowest that you want to discharge to ... in other words, not below 36.0 v on a 36v system ... and not below 48.0v on a 48v system. Can anyone offer any assistance ... is 36v the minimum reading that I should be discharging to for reliable operation and battery life?? Thanks guys ! |

Thats true i was trying to find the battery soc chart to post for you. Search other meter installs if someone else doesnt post it. I believe at rated voltage you are at 50% soc. Its time to head to the house and put it on charge.

Re: Digital Battery Meter .... optimal voltage range ...
I lifted this from someone on the ezgo side.
Pick the color you like and stick it on the dash or whatever you like. In general try to keep above 50% charge when batteries are at rest. Resting voltage means 10-15 minutes after cart is parked. The deeper you discharge the batteries per cycle, the shorter their lifespan. Also, generally speaking voltage should stay above 31.5v (36vsystem) when accelerating or climbing hills. |

--Also in the sticky "Everything to do with batteries" post #3, it gives the SG for each state charge.

Re: Digital Battery Meter .... optimal voltage range ...
Personally, I never go below 70% SOC. There are others here who don't go below 80%. I've read that the further you discharge the batteries the quicker you do permanent damage to them... So it's like picking how quickly you want to spend another $700 or $800 on batteries.

Re: Digital Battery Meter .... optimal voltage range ...
I don't think it causes any issues either, probably a better rule of thumb would be:
The more You discharge the batteries, the quicker you should return them to the charger. |

LOL I bet at the golf course they drive them dead daily. Now that would hurt them IMO.

Re: Digital Battery Meter .... optimal voltage range ...
My course had to change out batteries on 40 carts after a little over a year. They never bothered to service them. Pay now or later.
