Club Car DS problem switching into forward
My 2000.5 Electric Club Car DS has recently started having problems going forward. It happened a few times over the past couple weeks, now consistently has problems. I can hear it click when I put it in gear and press the pedal, but most of the time it won't go at all, or occasionally it will slam into gear and take off. Reverse doesn't seem to be a problem.
I have checked the micro switch on the F/R switch and it seems to be operating fine. I've checked all cable connections and they look good. I checked the V-glide and the main wire appeared to be exposed and touching a bolt, so I wrapped it with electrical tape, but that didn't seem to help. Any ideas what else it could be? Thanks. |

Re: Club Car DS problem switching into forward
Pop the cover off the V-Glide and inspect all of the contacts
Also, check all of the connections and make sure they are tight 36v System: 48v System: |

Re: Club Car DS problem switching into forward
He wouldn't have a 36v controller car unless one of two things:
1: It is really not a 2000.5. 36v controller cars were manufactured in 1993-94 ONLY 2: It was changed from the resistor setup to a controller and it still being run on 36v It is more than likely a 48v controller car |

Re: Club Car DS problem switching into forward
Yes, sorry 48 v cart. I've opened the v glide and ensured connection on all contact points. I noticed some corrosion on the contact points on th F/R switch, so I cleaned all of those as well, but no difference.

Re: Club Car DS problem switching into forward
Is it possible the F/R switch would need to be replaced? Is it common for those to fail and work intermittently?

Re: Club Car DS problem switching into forward
Sounds more like the microswitch #3 in CCfanatic second diagram (in the FNR switch).
Disconnect the wires and connect the green wire with the white wire. That will disable 1/2 speed reverse but will bypass the switch for testing. |

Re: Club Car DS problem switching into forward
Ok, I finally had a chance to connect the green and white wires and test it out. Unfortunately, there was no difference in the way it drives. I essentially have to fiddle with the FNR switch in order to get it to go forward. It's almost like it doesn't make a good electrical connection unless the switch is in the perfect position, which seems to vary.
Any other ideas what it could be? |

Re: Club Car DS problem switching into forward
You said in the first post you can hear it click, you meant the solenoid right?
Anyway, just in case, make sure the microswitch #1 metal lever arm is bent low enough that it makes good connection with the FNR cam when you put it in forward. If that does not do it, You probably need to take the FNR switch apart and check the copper buses and contacts for burnt spots. |
