Surging and discharge??
Hello, I have about a 2000 club car 48 volt.i bypassed a bad PBC a few years back and use a after market automatic charger. I will about 20% of the time get a situation where the cart will move slow then all of a sudden take off and run fine. Some times this happens when I first start moving and it will take or while in cruise mode and then it takes off. I have read about the mcor. Can it be cleaned or should I just replace it? Also the cart discharges by itself with no accs. hooked up, in neutral and key off. The cart has brand new batteries and new solenoid. It was doing the same thing before replacing batteries. Also when I hook up the last battery cable, I get a spark, it has always done this, the local bush mechanic said it is normal, is it?Thanks for any help

Re: Surging and discharge??
If you get a park when connecting battery. That means something is drawing power when connected. Disconnect things one at a time until you can connect battery cable without a spark. That will show what is draining your batteries.

Re: Surging and discharge??
Did You totally remove the OBC from the cart or is it still connected to the harness?

Re: Surging and discharge??
If I recall correctly, I just cut the negative wiring going to it and took it straight to battery from charging port, could have been the positive, thanks

Re: Surging and discharge??
The surging can be a few different things, but the discharging is unusual.
You may want to disconnect the OBC from the harness completely, it does have connections to both power and negative and it could discharge the batteries. If you did a full by-pass, there should not be any reason to leave the OBC plugged. Does it also discharge with the tow/run switch in tow? |

Re: Surging and discharge??
No on speed sensor test, it does it any where from just beginning movement or cruise speed serial is aa0138-071588. I know the cart was lifted and had a 36 volt motor to make it go faster? Replaced motor three years ago with stock 48 volt. In the islands the faster they go the faster they break!

Re: Surging and discharge??
You should have an MCOR in your car. It is probably that the MCOR is on it's way out. Does the solenoid have a resistor across one set of posts and a diode across the other? Feel both the diode and the resistor. If either one are hot while the car is not moving, then the solenoid is welded closed and needs to be replaced.
