Stereo mounting solutions in 09 Precedent
CLUBBIN' IN THE CLUB CAR!
I have an 09 Club Car Precedent that is getting an overhaul... I need a wicked speaker set up! Ideas.. better yet, pictures work best! I know there are a few threads with such a topic (from 2012), but i think it needs new life/brought up to date. My Idea - I have 4 Kicker 6.5" marine speakers (with LED Lights ) and i want to add 1 10" sub of the same make. I have the battery, I have the 5 channel class D marine amp .. all of this is not installed yet. My cart is sadly still all put together and original... 2 questions: 1. What is the max width in the space from the back of the driver seat to the back of the back passenger seat? (My back passenger seats on order) 2. I've heard of people having issues mounting 6.5" speakers under the front seat (above kick panel - next to charging plug) because of battery placement - anyone dealt with this? Plan: 2 speakers in dash, 2 speakers in kick panel, 1 sub between the front and back seats.. Not really wanting to put anything in the bag well.. BUT COMPLETELY OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS... I figure when the thread Topic is done, it could still be a good place to post pictures of your custom system set-ups ... you know to get them all in one place |

Re: Stereo mounting solutions in 09 Precedent
Putting speakers in the kick panel is tricky but doable. If you search my posts, you may find some specifics on measurements and what I did, but I did make it work with "shallow mount" polk marine speakers and a little bit of trimming to clear the sides of the magnets in the battery bay - I would have posted pix as well. I have to say that I don't know if you'll be able to fit Kickers in that area or not - I did a lot of digging to find the shallowest mount, marine grade, name brand speakers I could find and it was still a tight fit.
I did the sub later and ended up with a powered bazooka tube between the front and rear seat backs. Fits great there, sounds good, and I didn't have to drill a thing. I have a removeable faceplate radio and a sub that's very easy to remove as well, so if I ever need to leave the cart exposed, I don't have to leave the stereo stuff exposed as well. All that said, based on the sound I get, the volume level I get, and the thump I get, anything else is overkill, such as more 6.5's in the dash, overhead, underneath, etc. |

Re: Stereo mounting solutions in 09 Precedent
I'm working on setup very similar to what you are putting together.
10" Kicker Marine Sub between the seats. 4 6 1/2" Marine coaxials (2 in the dash 2 between the seats) RF M400-4D Marine Amp Dedicated 12v Interstate Battery 4a NOCO Genius Waterproof Mini-charger A few friends of mine have speakers above the kick panel but I felt most of the sound gets lost... Once you put the dash speakers facing you, you won't get much from the coaxials at your feet. The Sub box was a project in its self... You will need every square inch of airspace for that sub. I added a little fiberglass to house 2 of the coaxials. It needs few finishing touches and a final coat of paint, but yes, you can get a 10" sub between the seats... Jonathan |
