Default 2008+ Club Car Precedent Question.

Hi all.. New member here. I just purchased my second electric golf cart and it's a 2008+ Club Car Precedent 48V (4-12's). It's a stock cart. My first cart was 10 years ago and it was a 1995 Club Car and it was a disaster. It cost me more to keep it running than it was worth. I hope this one is much different.

My current cart has been well maintained and is in excellent condition. I have a few questions about the cart if anyone can help I'd appreciate it as it did not come with an owner's manual.

The previous owner stated it had a re-generator on it that charges the batteries when you let off the brakes. The cart does automatically slow down when you let off the brakes. I can I be for sure it has this and is this a good option to have?

It also has a watering system for the batteries he stated all I needed to get for it was the pump and some distilled water. How often should I add water to the batteries?

Should i plug up back up to the charger each time I use it or should I let the batteries run most of the way down before I recharge it? The batteries are 2.5 years old now.

I want to add a light kit to it, a back seat and a small lift (3") with a set of off road tires of some kind. What the best of each in your opinion?

Any help would be appreciated. Sorry for all the questions just want to make sure I do it right the first time.

I'll try to help a little here. You can go to the club car be site and down load the owners manual.
The regen braking does put a little juice back to the batteries, but not enought that you could really tell the difference unless you have long hills to go down and none to climb.

The water system can be bad. It hooks all the batteries together in one big bomb. I prefer taking it off and looking in the fill holes so that I know the water is at the proper level.

Anytime you are not driving the cart plug the charger in, if you are where the charger is. Otherwise plug it up every time you get home for the day. Also leave it plugged if you are not using it.

There are several light kits. I like the LED lights.
Get a 48 to 12 volt reducer to run your lights.
Site sponsors on this web site are your best bet for good parts and equipment.

Have fun and enjoy your cart.

I have the same cart. As Mr.Golf says always keep your cart plugged in when not in use, plug it in after each use regardless of how far you have traveled.Get a DVM so you can check pack volts and each battery to check pack balance. I have a SPWS. I like it. I would take off all the battery caps and fill them to the right level. Check all the fill caps to make sure they work. If they are god reinstall. Also check all battery connections to make sure they are tight.
Welcome to the Addiction!!!!!
