Forgot to Use "Tow" Switch
I forgot to use the tow switch and had to tow my 2011 Club Car Precedent. Towed it over a mile at approx 10-15 MPH. When down smelled a burned smell.. I am sure I burned up the something!
I suppose I am going to use this opportunity to upgrade and get a new motor and controller so that the cart will run at higher speeds and have better torque. I have relatively new Trojan batteries. I mainly use the cart to drive around the neighborhood, but I do use it at Deer Camp and the Beach 15-20 times a year. My cart is a 48V Regen Precedent. Currently I have 14" wheels and larger tires. I also have a 6" Mad Jacks lift and folding rear seats. I also have a full light kit and bluetooth stereo system. I am pretty handy and capable to do the install myself (I think), but I have a few questions: 1. Where should I purchase the parts? 2. What parts should I buy? I assume wire harness, controller, motor & solenoid. 3. To get close t 30MPH, any recommendations? 4. Are there any hidden issues I should be aware of? 5. Best instructional videos? 6. Should spline ratio be considered? Any help and advise is appreciated in advance. Thanks! |

Re: Forgot to Use "Tow" Switch
Motor: I'd check out having your motor rebuilt by PlumQuick. They have a variety of options and sure to have what you want
Controller: I recommend ScottyB (Carts Unlimited) for your controller. Check out his website for all of the options Solenoid: ScottyB has solenoid and controller packages You will not need to replace the wire harness itself. If you upgrade the controller, you will need to upgrade the high amperage-carrying cables in the cart |

Re: Forgot to Use "Tow" Switch
Let's start with the serial number of the vehicle so we can identify the drive system. A 2011 Precedent could be equipped with either the IQ or Excel system.
BTW: The motor is the first thing that burns up in this situation, but if it is damaged bad enough, it can develop an internal short that may also take out the controller as well. |

I charged the battery all last night...when I pushed the gas pedal, I heard a click, but it does not GO. I assume based on the click...the solenoid might be OK and the the controller and the or the motor is shot. Like I siad...I would like to use the this stupidity as an opportunity to upgrade the motor and controller. Any help would be great! |
