Default 2005 DS IQ battery voltage issues

Hi group. I am brand new to carts and just got a hand me down from my grandparents yesterday. I believe it is a 2005 DS IQ 48v, serial starts AQ05.
My first order of business is getting it running. My grandparents have been having it serviced monthly and they have been told the batteries are good. Cart will barely run with just a bit of pressure on the pedal and at full pedal it shuts off. The amber battery light comes flashes in a very slow pattern. I tested the batteries and all come back at 8.1/8.2 except one that was reading all over the place mostly above 10.
Does it sound like just that battery is bad or do all need to be replaced since they are not reading 9.3 and they are now 9 years old?
I am hoping to get the cart running without spending hundreds so i can start customizing it.
thanka for the help.

Also the charger goes to about 5 for ten minutes then shuts off. Is it possible the charger is bad?

I'm guessing you have 6 batteries that should be 8 volt batteries. 8.1 to 8.2 volts is run down batteries. They should be at 8.49 I think is 100% charge.
They need to be charged up good. If you have one with readings all over the place that is not good either. Short answer is you likely need to go ahead and put new batteries in it to get it working if you plan to keep and use it. Six year old batteries are at there life span even when cared for very good. While you are at it you might as well up grade all the large battery cables to at least 4 gauge, prefer welding cable. This includes cables going to the motor and controller.

This should be enough to get you started.

Welcome and have fun it gets habit forming.

Thanks. Yes it is 6 batteries. The cables look good but I was thinking the same thing. I may see if I can get the service records from the place that was supposidly working on it just to see if anything has ever been replaced. With both my grandparents over 90 who knows what they sold them. They hadnt driven it in a few years but kept the service up and it looks like the guys werent given them the full story on the batteries, just charging them a couple hundred a month to add water.

Any suggestions on battery brand or place to buy them at a good price? Do you think i should get a new charger too?

Thanks again. I can already see this being a fun habit. Ive been waiting since they got the cart for it to make it down to me and since it made is so many years with only one crack in the body I feel pretty lucky.

I like the Trojan , but there are other good ones, also the worldwide I think is made by Trojan.

Also the charger may be just fine with good batteries.
