Default Full throttle surge/roll away braking

2005 CC 48V Precedent. At full throttle I get the surging like many others who have posted here. What makes my situation different is, when I start decelerating and slow down a bit, all of a sudden the roll away braking function kicks in and the beep, beep sound is heard. I can apply a little accelerator and the roll away braking effect is cancelled. This problems occurs most of the time that I decelerate but not every time. Any suggestions/advice is appreciated.

Just a thought. Do you have a Plum Quick motor upgrade. My cart does that in reverse and it started after the upgrade. It's not causing any problems so I'm not worried about it.

No, no upgrades or mods.

Check the diode in series with the tow/run switch to see if it failed in the closed position.
The part about being triggered by decelerating sounds like the main dropout issue.
Also, check how much the batteries are dropping when under load.

Sergio, can you advise, as how I check this diode, and where it is located?

thanks

If Your DVM has a diode test function, use it, otherwise just use the ohm setting.

The ohm setting in most DVM do not put out enough voltage to properly test some LEDs (blue, green, etc) and high current diodes, but it does work for the average diode used in golf carts.

The diode will have "low resistance" when forward biased, negative probe on cathode (striped end of the diode) and positive probe on anode.

Reverse the probes and you should get high resistance.

Basically high or low on both directions indicates a bad diode.

I am not sure where exactly that diode is physically located, the diagram shows it near the Tow/Run switch.

Here are a couple of images that may help in locating the diode. Looks like you should follow the wire labeled as #10.

The problem turned out to be a faulty speed sensor although it passed the speed sensor test. Replaced with a new one and everything is back to normal.

Glad it's fixed!

It's nice when folks come back and give the resolution in the thread - helps the future searchers looking for info on the same issue.
