stereo hookup with an independant battery.

I had this hooked up for the past 2 years with the stereo connected to a 12 volt battery with an on/off switch between a blue sea 5025 and battery. Im in the process of changing the overhead console to dashboard and Im not getting power. I don't have all the wiring diagrams that I had when I first did this, but I didn't think it was rocket science. Im not sure what I am doing wrong. Help me before my wife realizes that Im not as smart as she thinks i am.

Adding to this...I have an obvious black and red wire coming from the stereo, along with a yellow wire. The yellow wire is for memory and I don't need it, because its a drain on the battery.

Not trying to be a jerk, but the problem is real simple, you are not getting power to the radio, and either one or both supply wires has an open circuit. You are just going to have to trace each wire from the battery to the radio to find the problem.

In addition the yellow wire might be required to have power (+12 volts) for the radio to work. Normally you would connect it directly to the battery to keep the memory powered up. But there is nothing preventing you from putting it on the same on/off switch you use to turn the radio on/off with.

If you have a test meter you can tell real quick which wire has the problem. Turn th emeter to measure Ohms. Place one lead on the battery negative battery post, and the other to the radio black wire. If you see a short or near zero Ohms, the wire is good. If it measure open or high resistance you found the wire in trouble. Repeat for positive taking into consideration to turn on the switch. One of the two or both wires has a problem, go find it. Be sure to also check the switch.

Nothing you said was being a jerk. My problem is between the fuse box and the switch. Im missing something and I can't figure it out. Im not hooking one of them right.

This has been a love/hate relationship. When I bought this cart for my wife, I didn't know anything about them. I have learned a lot from this forum and have spent a lot of money based on this forum. I could have probably saved money by getting one decked out but I needed this, even though I hate it at times.

The Yellow wire is the main power lead for the radio. You need that connected with the red/trigger wire to the +12v switch for the radio to power on.

this may be too obvious but if you are getting power to the fuse block and you're not getting power to the switch. perhaps the fuse is blown or maybe loose in the base.
try to put 1 tester lead on the battery - then keep working the other test early further down the circuit until you no longer have power. then you have found the problem.
