MCOR/Throttle linkage issue slowing my groove

Ok so first things first. That dude, Scotty b, is awesome and it should not matter that he has great prices because his help is extremely VALUABLE! I highly recommend doing business with him!

So I get my my Alltrax 500 amp SC and heavy duty Solenoid and my cart is no faster. In fact, It's about the same as it was before. With a quick call to Scotty b it is determined that the problem is the MCOR not sending enough throttle signal to the SC to make it go correctly.

Upon fiddling with it we find that the shaft is not being turned properly by the pedal and linkage. We make all the adjustment we can but there is a lot of slop in the linkage from wear. Possibly a bushing or bearing missing where the shaft goes through the frame, but with the adjustment I an down to about 3k OHMS and the cart scoots pretty dang good. Scotty says it should get down to about 1K or less. I need to be able to spin that shaft just a little bit more. To do this I need to take up that slop at the very least. Anyone got any diagrams or thoughts on this.

I am able to hit 21mph now and climb hills at what was once my high speed! but I am certain if I can get to that magic 1k OHMS, I can squeeze 23+ out of her.

Yes that is definately on place, but also there is lateral slop in the shafts because the joint between flexes also. Great place to start to tighten it up. THANKS!

If you have even more slop to take up than the thickness of a cable tie can accomodate - some people have also used a piece of 1/4" steel fuel tubing (or thick wall copper tubing) pushed over the stud.

Ok after major fiddling with it and trying the zip tie thing, and even filing out the slot pedal adjustment to give it another 1/8", my MCOR will not get below about 3.2K OHMS. According to Scotty, I should be getting to about 1K OHMS.

I think it might be time to replace that MCOR. Thoughts? I'm "OK" with the speed torque for now but if I went from 7.4K/5K @ 10MPH to 7.4K to 3.2K @ 21mph (and 10MPH up a fairly steep hill) I figure 7.4K to 1K should give me high 20's and maybe 15 uphill.

Give me some specs please brain trust!

I don't have any experience with your cart, but looking at the MCOR assembly:

1) Have You already removed the MCOR and turned it with a screw driver to make sure it will go down to 1kΩ?

2) if it does go down to 1kΩ, Is it possible to "pre-load" shaft #2 in the picture by turning it to the next spline before putting the MCOR back in place?

It only fits one way, however I have done this by putting the drive bar in a vise, heating it with a torch and twisting it with a pair of pliers. Works perfectly.

Well, I may be wrong about this but. The move is 5k-0k so there is a 5k difference so if you deduct 5 from 7.4 you end up with 2.4 which isn't all that far from where you are.

I suppose that's true. I'm going to live it for now and see how things go. Once it warms up a bit, I might fool with it come more. Even if the 5k thing is the case, would go faster if I get one that works correctly without having to "re-engineer" stuff? Might be worth it.

It also does not seem to be exactly the same each time you depress the pedal. There seems to be about .15K or so swing at times.

Might have to try that screw driver test with the drive bar off. That sounds like a pretty good idea.
