Question 93 Club Car DS-- Acceleration Issue

Greetings,
I am very new to the world of Carts. I have a 1993 Club Car DS. When you depress the pedal slowly, in forward or reverse, the cart accelerates as one would expect it to. If you depress the pedal quickly, the cart will not go at all. The current operating procedure is to depress the pedal very slowly until you hear the solenoid click then pause briefly, and then continue to depress pedal and it will run just fine. I am not smart enough to know what the problem is or where to start looking. All input greatly appreciated.

Welcome to BGW!

Can you provide us with a little info on the cart? The serial number is very helpful (at least the first portion which starts with an A) and also if it is a solid state controller cart or a resistor drive cart. Resistor drive carts have a bank of coils behind the batteries with several large colorful wires running to them. Solid state controller carts have a black rectangular box (controller) up under the rear body right behind the passenger's butt.

Bad connections of the power cables is my guess without more information.

The first part of the serial # is A93. This appears to be a solid state controller.

Thanks

CCFanatic is right, these carts fairly rare, and are fairly simple in operation. You get the benefits of a series drive solid state system, without all the frills that cause issues.

I would check all connections at the batteries and on the FNR switch like mrgolf said, a bad one or a loose one could be suspect.

Here is a wiring diagram for your cart. You should be able to pull and twist all the connections and they should be nice and tight. Also, crack open the V-Glide (pie-shaped box on frame rail) and make sure the contacts and the wiper arm are in good condition

Welcome to BGW. If you don't have a digital meter, get one. Even a cheepo will do, you're going to need it.

Thanks for all your input. I will try all the suggestions. I do have a digital meter. If and when I find the problem, I will post what I have found.

After you check the wiring for bad spots, hook the meter leads to the main + and - of the battery pack (alligator clip leads are nice for this. Note the voltage of the pack and also the drop when the issue occurs. Do the same for each battery individually, could be a battery issue. Hope this helps, and keep us posted.
