As the saying goes: The bitterness of poor quality is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten. Also: Good equipment ain't cheap, and cheap equipment ain't good.

Can you please share where you got this wrong information? If it was from a post on this forum spriddle or another admin could remove (or correct) the false information to prevent any newcomers from making the same mistake.

Good decision! Scotty matches all his stuff up so you know it works together. His prices are very reasonable and I would put his customer service up against anyone out there.

Default What is this??

Glad I stumbled across this post. I have a 98 CC DS and it has that same wire through the same hole.

I don't exactly understand how it affects the charging since it's DC voltage and appears to just pass through similar to how an AC CT does. But I am going to run across the same problem with upgraded wiring.

What is the largest diameter wire that can pass through this hole?

ScottyB sells a stud that goes through the OBC so you can use a larger gauge of cable

Here is a explanation on how it affects the charging.

You can buy a 3-1/2 inch 5/16 brass bolt at Lowes and just cut the head off.

A 5/16 bolt has a larger diameter than 1GA cable, so it should be fine and it is the same diameter as the battery posts, so you can use the same size cable lugs.

There is a picture on that post of the stud I build, You need to put about 1 inch of tape or shrink tube on the center of the bolt so it does not "file off" the environmental coating inside the OBC hole.

I went to Scotty's site but did not see where you can purchase just the OBC stud. It comes with his cable kits.
