Default pedal to floor, cart slows and stops

Got a '93 DS in the shop today. The last time it was here, the guy left it for about 8 months. The cart is definitely used for hunting and driving through the woods. It's got a brand new Alltrax controller 36V platform, and the v-glide switch assembly was replaced just over a year ago before I started working here, along with the resistors in the v-glide. Also has a brand new solenoid. Nothing else is "upgraded". It seems to accelerate fine until the pedal reaches the floor (customer also complained sometimes he'd hear the famous solenoid click, but no go). Once the pedal reaches the floor, the cart quickly decelerates, and comes to a stop. if I let off and then get back on the accelerator, it takes off. I haven't had it duplicate the "no go" problem yet. So, long story short, this cart has been a headache, so I'm turning to you guys for answers. Any suggestions on where to start really? Because I'm stumped.

The last resistor in the VGilde failed?

Sounds like an open short or loose end of the last resistor. Should be 1100 ohms

Any idea how much resistance I should get from it with the meter? When I checked it, I'm pretty sure it was around 1100 ohms. I also noticed the head negative battery post/cable got rather warm after driving the cart around.

What are the steps to tracking down an open short? Just looking for a break in a wire somewhere?

That is most likely Your problem. Pull on that cable and every high amperage cable, You have a poor connection in one of those cables and the controller voltage is dropping due to voltage drop in the bad connection.

Range of V-glide, pedal up 0-50 ohms, pedal down 4500-5500 ohms.

For the warm cable, I would disconnect both ends and do the "twist & pull" while watching ohm meter.

Just pull on it? It's got one of those stupid looking fuses between the battery post, and the cable. and it does seem a little frail. That would probly be why the post got so hot and started to melt the battery plastic.

If I remove that fuse, it voids the warranty on the controller. should I take it off anyways? I've never had anything but problems with them.
