Default excel motor brake issue

I have a 2008.5 excel I have owned for five years.it is lifted and the motor and controller are stock. It has full motor braking from day one and I have a IQDM computer and I cannot get rid of any of it.It has been ok for me as I run some steep downgrades but I want to sell it and i want it gone.Nowhere on the IQDM does it have a funtion to remove it.I just bought a 2012 excel and the IQDM will remove the excel feature motor braking.Am I missing something on the 2008.5 excel?
Thanks,Tom

I thought you had to get a code from the manufacturer to change the program, at least that is what I was told by the dealer where I purchased my 2012. That may be for the newer models though, not sure.

You can't program with the IQDM. You need the IQDM-P

Can you tell me why I can remove the excel feature with my IQDM on the 2012 and not on the 2008.5? This is a new one on me.

Early Excel software doesn't allow the "Excel Braking" feature to be turned off. They didn't allow it til around 2010

Well, then can I get a rebuilt controller with the motor braking removed?
Or a later model controller so I can remove it?

Why go through all of the hassle if it was o.k. with you for the last 5 years?
Do you already have a new buyer, and they want it gone?

Just curious!

I suppose, I don't deal with rebuilt controllers so I don't really know what's out there. I don't see why not. A late model controller, slightly used, may be a better option.

Lockman1, this issue is a deal braker several times over.I am solving the issue by changing to a iq harness as I have several iq controllers.I original question was asking why my IQDM would not reprogram the 2008.5 but will reprogram the 2012.
Thank,Tom
