Stacking Plates
To put 20" tires on a non-lifted cart and to avoid minor rubbing in the front, it was suggested (by Tahoe Dawg) to stack 4 front spring plates above the spring. I have various thicknesses of plate steel (up to 1" thick) that I can machine to do the job. So the question is, what thickness equals the stack of 4 spring plates?

Re: Stacking Plates
The factory plates are 1/4" thick. The XRT 810 vehicles are now coming from the factory with 5 plates for a total of 1-1/4" thickness. That is what I recommend to run 20" tires. The rear spring shackles need to be an inch longer as well.

Re: Stacking Plates
I'm in the process of doing the same thing. Any recommendations on what to use for the longer shackles in back? Also does the 2" wheelbase extension from Jakes accomplish the necessary clearance for the front as well?

Re: Stacking Plates
Thanks for the come-back. The problem that I'm running into is all the lifts I find also extend the wheelbase length. With the rear seat and 20" tires I don't have room on the trailer for more wheelbase.

I don't know anything about the wheelbase extension. Never seen one so I can't help there. Sorry. |
