Default club car precedent charger is cutting off before meter shows 0

good afternoon everybody. 2012 precedent 48 volt with original batteries. Charger comes on and runs but when it gets to around 6 to 8 amps on the meter it just shuts off. The battery pack showed 51.3 after it sat for a few. Cart runs fine just not as long as it should. What should I be looking for. I also did a load test and the batteries said they were OK.

Here's a story for you. I've had my CC since 2010 and I cannot tell you what amperage the charger shuts off at. I've seen it as low as 3a but I never seen it cutoff.
Personally I would say if it ain't broke don't fix it. BTW what kind of run time do you have, or how many miles can you get out of a charge? I forgot the meter never reaches zero before it cuts off. I think 5 is about ideal.

Wow you should be getting 10X that. But you said everything was checking ok so I have no idea where to start. Probably need to keep an eye on for a while.

I see this quite often actually. When batteries go dry at some point in their life, part of the battery cell will "die" and never recover. Keep in mind you still have 2 volts per cell and the remainder of the cell is fine, but now you have essentially smaller cells due to part of it being dead. You have battery cells that re-charge and discharge faster than they ever have because there's simply not as much "battery" there as there once was. It sounds to me like you've got bad batteries. A load test will test fine if you do it right when you take it off charge. To me, a load test can be very misleading if you don't do it correctly. If you were to drive your car until it went dead before you did a load test you may be able to identify the bad battery or batteries. I've done specific gravity test on many batteries and gotten passing results, but when a discharge machine is hooked up to the vehicle and a discharge test is performed, it fails.

I drove the cart for about 6 miles. It is still running but you can tell it is low on voltage. I put a load tester on them again and still nothing is showing up. This is a 2012 cart with original batteries.

It could be a 2014 cart and still have a bad battery. Load tests are so unreliable. How did you do yours?

The best load test is to hook your DVM to the battery, or batteries, and monitor as you drive up some kind of hill

That would be a good way to compare your batteries to each other. It would also be very subjective. If you didn't want to believe you had a bad battery one would never show up bad. If you know what I mean. :)

I have pulled the cart way down almost to a crawl. Found 1 battery that was the lowest over all and replaced it. Put it on charge and will drive it until it dies again and see how many miles it will run.
