To answer your question earlier about getting into the 20 mph range on 48 volts, tire size is a huge deal, and also the SepEx carts can do a lot more given more amps than these series carts can. What MPH are you getting now on 36 volts with those tires?

Thanks Yellow, on 36v I'm getting 15-16MPH, I haven't GPS'd it with the new tires on. I will get a reading tomorrow with a full charge.

Gwagon,

Tag50 had told me about your conversion since I have become interested in upgrading it to solid state. My and your situation is different in that you have nearly new batteries and I was going to have to replace all of mine. That has led me to exploring the 48 volt conversion option in the event I want to increase tire size (which I will).

I had wondered where I'd put the controller. Didn't know what kind of documentation everything came with. Scotty had recommended a 500A FSIP controller but I was looking at the next one up for just a few dollars more which is a 700A. Don't know if I'd ever be able to use that capacity but thought if there was a lighter load, it may be less likely to fail?

Anyway, I haven't done anything as of yet beyond thinking. I'd like to start stripping away some old batteries/wiring/coils but don't want to tear something out if it would help guide me to installing the new. Did you get instructions and a wiring diagram? Any regrets on what you chose? Yours turned out nice!

Klanel, Thanks i'm enjoying the heck out of it. Sorry for the late reply. As other has said the best way to go is Scottyb's conversion. The kit is everything you need to go Solid State. The diagrams were a breeze to read, and of course, if you had a question (i had a few) you can call ScottyB, and ask him directly, his team is amazing. Once you get started you will see its not that hard of a conversion. I hope this helps. There are a ton guy/gals on here who are willing to help in anyway. Good Luck! let us know how its going with pics

Gwagon,

Is the linkage with the ball/socket in the photo below original to your cart? It looks sorta new. Mine is rusty brown.
