Sorry but no easy way to say this but 18 months ago you were told your batteries need to be replaced... Today we will all tell you the same thing replace the dog gone batteries! And while your at it replace those rotted end 6 gauge battery cables with some 4 gauge battery cables, they likely have internal corrosion and need to be replaced as well.... If you can't afford top shelf batteries then buy what you can afford. Bad batteries and rotten cables is costing you $$$ and vacation enjoyment!

Another warning to heed if you wish... In very short order that one new battery will be no better than the trash batteries you have it mated to. As the batteries are hooked up and charged in series all charge must go through all batteries so the new battery will get over charged as the charger tries in vane to charge the pack of mostly bad batteries.... Also connections MUST be maintained clean and tight as loose connections generate heat and heat melts your terminals off...

OK Teecro- I hear you loud and clear. I will be purchasing new batteries and cables tomorrow morning. I have not charged the new battery in the series because I noticed the other battery terminal that was melting.

Should I be concerned that something is causing the melting of the terminals or is it safe to assume that the old batteries are just that... too old?

Thanks again for your help.

The age of the batteries has nothing to do with the melting of the posts. What causes melting is loose connections and excessive corrosion.

Easy ~ don't abuse them and charge anytime the cart is not in motion...

New Batteries and new 4 gauge cables... all said and done, $600. Went with the NAPA's because of cost but it turned out they only had 5 Trojans available this morning so that made the decision easier for me.

Thanks to everyone that has had insight into this thread over the last 18 months!
