Speed problems

Good day to everyone. I am new to this forum and a newbie when it comes to fixing my golf car. I have a 2008 Club Car Precedent. My question has something to do with the golf cart's acceleration. When I am driving, all of a sudden the golf car would just stop and I would have to take my foot off the pedal before I depress it again. Only then would the cart start moving again. I talked to a local parts dealer yesterday who told me that this is a classic symptom of MCOR being defective and needs to be replaced. Is this true? If not, what could be causing this?

Most likely it is. You can test it by removing the top plug of the MCOR, (2 wire plug,) and insert a paper clip to complete the connection. If it stops the problem then it would be your MCOR.

Yes, I just replaced mine yesterday and it was doing the same thing before it died all the way. I found them on Ebay for around $140 new.

Teecro, He doesn't need an MCOR4. Yes they're cheaper, but they're also a totally different unit.

TahoeDawg. According to your sticky article you wrote a MCOR4 is a direct replacement for a MCOR2 with an adapter kit. Why wouldn't he want to go with the MCOR4. I replaced my 2 with a 4 and no problems.

PS I hope it's not my reading comprehension problem.

He could, but with a 2008 it's very likely that he has the Gen1 pedal assembly that can't bolt up with the MCOR4. Even if he has the Gen2 pedal assembly you still have to buy a conversion kit with wiring adapters and at that point you're going to be close to the same price as the MCOR2. I'd rather stick with the MCOR2. It's proven itself to me. The MCOR4 is still new.

hi scuba, tahoedawg and everyone: i did the paperclip test above and it is dying and id have to push on pedal to the metal to get it going again. maybe not the mcor then?

i also did the push test - when i push it forward, it goes, no brake no reverse buzzer. when i push it backwards, it goes, no brake but i hear the reverse buzzer. could it be the speed sensor?
