Sounds like you have 2 48 volt packs. 4 x 12 volts wired in series = 48 volts. And then the 2 48 volt packs wired in parallel. Are they golf cart batteries or car batteries?. Can you post some pics of the batteries and how they are wired

If you have an auto parts store load tester the answer is no. The best way to load test the batteries, is to hook your meter to the batteries and drive the cart and watch the meter and see what the volts drop to

I agree with Rib 100% on the way its wired. But dang thats a heavy pack of batteries and would take up a lot of room — Id love to see some pics! Also curious of the 20hr rate of your batteries, what model of Interstate 12v are they?

Your other question — If its a 48v on-board charger & your batteries are wired as a 48 volt pack, yes it will work. The only question is how slow will it be and can you wait that long between rides.

To me with the AH of 12v batteries you would be much better off with 6 8v batts. Someone could do the math but I'm sure it isn't much difference.

Totally agree ...or better yet, eight 6v batteries! Thats why I asked what model battery he's got. He is probably not looking to buy new batteries - still though, it would be good to know before he does need to replace them. Hard to beat the run time of eight Trojan T-145's. But I didn't want to get too far off subject. I guess its too late for that.

Any chance they might actually be eight 6v batteries...(not 12v), which would then in fact = 48v...???

Question. Are they wired in pairs then into the series to give a higher plate load per bi-battery 12 volt pack at four packs to achieve 48 volts with maximum amp hours?
