Whatever you do the important thing is to torque to 120 in/lbs. Occasionally recheck torque especially with star washers.

And dont put terminal protective coatings on before installing cables, otherwise it will insulate the connections and drive you nuts.Hope this helps.

Divide inch pounds by 12 to get Ft pounds. So it's 10 ft lbs.

Inch and Foot pounds are the same as what they sound like.12" lbs.=1' lb.120"=10 ft.lbs.Usually,with a block type terminal, the bolt configuration would be bolt thru the cable end, then star-washer,cable,flat-washer,and nut.

Go to Harbor Freight and buy a inch/pound wrench. They're cheap. Cheaper than twisting a bolt off or out of the lead top.

I prefer the beam-type or dial-face for inch-lbs,since you can see the torque-set,instead of waiting for the soft click, which can easily be passed by.

I neglected to share with you this. These batteries Are tapped slugs.in the battery top, that take a quarter inch bolt. I'm gettin forgetful, sorry about that, no side clamp bolts on the these. ........gell cells 12 volt 4 of them' does this change the dynamic of the problem ...with such things as the torque wrench being involved ,try this again please bob s

For Stud or Threaded-Insert type connections:Star-Washer,then cables, then the bolt(or nut if stud-type battery),with a flat-washer if not using a flange-bolt.The idea of the star-washer is to grip the mount and ensure good contact,as it will cut in slightly.
