Rear Leafs
What are the best and cost effective HD rear leaf springs? I am new to the scene when it comes to upgrading suspensions. I am going to be installing a rear seat in the near future. I've also heard of medium duty springs. Would those work?

Re: Rear Leafs
I think I have narrowed it down to these two:
http://www.cartpartsplus.com/club-ca...gs?search=rear http://www.cartpartsplus.com/club-ca...gs?search=rear I am leaning towards the Medium duty for ride quality. Can you guys help push me one way or another? |

Re: Rear Leafs
Unless you plan on hauling some REAL heavy folks on that rear seat ALL the time, or you plan to get a flip flop you'll load down heavily a lot, then the HD leaves will kill your back. We're talking compression of the spine when going over the slightest rough ground.
As you mentioned, for ride quality, I'd probably go with the medium duty ones. Never experienced them myself, but I have had the HD ones and I vowed never again to torture myself in that manner. |

Re: Rear Leafs
Someone who has tried those medium ones may come along, I really hope they do because I've always wondered about them myself.
As for the HD springs, I've heard a few people say they like them, but I do know that Don (Lockman1) shares my opinion of them, along with several others. My cart would literally bounce me up out of the seat on the slightest bump when it had them. My driveway is gravel, though it is smooth and level, and even that would jar the riders around pretty good. |

Re: Rear Leafs
I recently installed "dual action leaves" on mine with the theory that the 3rd leaf doesn't come into play until I put a real load on them. With 2 people on board they were a little stiffer, but I don't know if that was because my old ones were so bad. I haven't had them long enough to really test them. Several sponsors have them. I got mine from Jason's. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Rear Leafs
Interesting tag, I hadn't heard of the dual actions. May be something to consider...
Kind of the same concept of the medium duty ones; soft ride, but able to support more weight than stock. |

The rear seat along with whomever will be riding back there would most likely need the heavier springs. |
