Front Leaf Spring

Hi guys, first post here. I have a 2000 CC DS and the front suspension is stiff as a board. It has 10" wheels with 205-65 tires. I've had the cart since 2003 and the front end has always been horrible. The whole cart rattles when I hit a bump, even on grass.
I'm wondering if maybe the front leaf spring got changed to a HD one. Is there a way to tell the difference between a stock and HD leaf spring? Would the shocks affect the ride that much? I've lowered the air pressure and it didn't help.

Stock front springs are mono leaf. Heavy duty springs would either be a double or a triple leaf. It's easy to tell the difference. A lot of your harsh ride may be coming from the 10" wheels and low profile tires. Check the tire pressure. Maybe you can try running slightly less pressure. With lower profile tires, you have less rubber tire and more metal rim, decreasing the shock absorption of the tire. Changing the shocks on the car won't help you much. The are primarily just to keep the car from bouncing when you hit a bump. They don't really affect the ride quality at all.

OK thanks. It is single leaf so must be stock. I'll try messing with the air pressure some more. I never really considered the tires low profile, they have quite a bit of meat on the sidewall.

They may not be considered "low profile" but they're definitely a lower profile than the factory tires that used an 8" wheel. You've got two inches less rubber than you would have had with the 8" wheels, considering the overall tire diameter is the same. It's a common problem. Club Car offered Precedents with 8" and 10" wheels. Lots of our customers wanted the fancy 10" wheels but complained about the ride quality once they got the car. Lots of them got us to swap them for the cheaper 8" wheels. Lifted cars are a little different. 10" or 12" wheels don't suffer from the ride quality because the tire diameter is a 22" or a 23" as opposed to an 18, but the 14" wheels I had on my personal cart rode pretty rough on 23" tires. I'll never have them again.

I'm with the Dawg on this one. I once did some work for a Doctor on his DS. This thing was pimped out, all the bling and add-ons you can imagine, overhead radio and a sound system nicer than the one in some new cars, painted beautifully in a cinnamon color with striping to match his motorhome to a T. I put some completely hidden LED ground effect underglow on for him and hid all the wires and control box behind the dash, it was pretty sharp. Anyhow, the cart had some nice 10" wheels and the tires were the size of yours, looked like street radials instead of golf tread. The one thing about the cart that was terrible was the ride, I remember recalling that my old stock 93 rode much better, and the only real difference was the wheels and tires.

I love the ride on mine. 22.5" diameter tires wrapped around stock-diameter 8" wheels. I do think that the tires cushion the ride.

As far as HD front springs, I could be wrong, but I doubt those are even a thing. Most of these carts don't seem to ever have enough weight distributed up front to warrant a need for them. Both the passengers and the motor weight are positioned to affect the rear springs much more than the front.

I just saw a HD front leaf the other day. They look just like the stock one, but they have an extra leaf

Thanks again for the info. May have to look into some 8" wheels.

They make them for Carryall vehicles. Mainly for the addition of a ball picker cage or a metal cab. They're available in double and triple leaf. They fit on a DS car as well.
