Default Installing key switch in new CC DS dash

I bought a new dash kit for my '97 48v CC DS but it has only a hole for the key switch, not the bracket that's on the backside of original dash to hold it in place (let alone the slots for the bezel).

Has anyone rigged up something different or had any luck using what appears to be the only plastic key switch available for the '97 DS?

I would be happy to install a different key switch but don't know if just any 2-prong key switch would work.

Thanks for any help or ideas!

I bought a second but and put one in the front and behind the dash to hold my ignition.

Thanks, Duke but I was hoping for another option so I wouldn't have the nut showing on the outside.

I was hoping for more options and I have to think there are others installing an aftermarket dash.

So to rephrase my question:

Since the dash has just a hole and no bracket, will any 2-pole key switch work on my 48v cart?

(okay, it's actually the same question )

Thanks!

Any two pole switch will work. If you're going to use the factory switch, you've gotta deal with the nut. That's how they're intended to mount. Part number 102051701 is a black plastic keyswitch nut that looks a lot better than the steel one.

Thank you so much for the quick reply, TahoeDawg!

I'm ready to install the dash but didn't know if there were any amperage (or voltage?) issues with a different switch.

Thanks again!

You can use just about any on/off switch if You use a 48v relay.

If you are not using a relay, the switch needs to be rated for 48vDC or it will fail soon.

Do you have a link to the particular switch you are trying to use?

From what you wrote, this doesn't look good!

I know little, so if it's a relay I need, what would it look like or what kind/type should I use? And for the $8.20 I just spent I could certainly write this off as a mistake and get the right key switch instead of a relay (assuming I can find the right one).

Thanks!

If that switch says it can handle 220/380Volts 1Amp AC it can certainly handle powering up your controller.

Thanks jjance!

I'll now take some aspirin from banging my head

Although, the downside from that switch is that it appears the key can be removed from both positions so I'll have to decide on that as well.

But thanks again!
