burned green wire

I have a 2006 cc ds 48v with scotty-b 400 amp. Upgrade. I had it on an incline today under a little bit of a load. All of the sudden I smelled smoke, and the cart stopped dead! Upon checking the green wire had melted where it connected to the a1 on the motor, I put it into tow, and pulled it home!
My guess is that it was a little loose and got hot!
I haven't tried to hook it back up yet. Wandering what you all think?

May have been a loose wire connection, or it may have been an issue with the wiring in the motor itself for the A1 connection. Feel the A1 terminal on the motor. Does it feel loose?

If you have a 400a control you may want to upgrade the amperage delivery cables. Any resistance in the amperage delivery to the motor will show up as unwanted heat. 4g is recommend for all the cables in the cart.

I loosened the nut to remove the eye and yes the stud did try to turn! So it is loose is there a way to tighten it?

yes I do have your upgrade on it so I do probably need bigger cables!

The wire inside the motor is most likely twisted / broken. Hate to say it but it is time for a motor rebuild / replacement

Yep, you will more than likely need a new motor. Is it a series or sepex?
