I was getting a nasty spark from the V-glide on my 88 when first pressing the pedal, and it turned out I had a broken coil. Just something to check.

when I push it for 5 seconds max I push is half throttle and the last two resistors get extremely hot.

That is normal, look at crash test dummy post, those are the only 2 resistors in the circuit at half-throttle.

As 93yellowclubcar mentioned, a broken coil or bad connection would cause sparks when changing pads.

You can disconnect the gray wire going from the resistor coil assembly to the motor and place Your voltmeter on the coil assembly where the wire was connected. The FNR should be on Forward.

When You press the pedal just enough for the solenoid to close, You should get +48v indicating all resistors and connections are good.

should be 36v + on a 36v cart
