I need more information on which reducer you used before I can answer that question. If you used a factory reducer or an equivalent, the answer is yes. But, only the negative wire is utilized by the 16 to 12 volt reducer, which is what I assume you used. If you do choose to utilize this negative connection, you must hook the positive connection to the same battery that you used to power your 12 volt lights. Again, with a 16 to 12 volt reducer, it should be battery number 5 positive. (With Battery #1 being main positive battery and battery #6 being main negative) This will provide 12 volts to your stereo. I recommend using a 48 to 12 volt reducer for stereo installations. I say this because of the constant draw of the memory cable on the back of the receiver. It is the yellow wire. It requires a constant power connection to keep the station presets, clock memory, and graphic equalizer settings. It also helps to remember where a CD stopped when you turn off the unit and will allow it to go back to the same spot when you turn it back on. This constant draw will eventually get the batteries out of sync from each other and create an expensive problem. You're going to end up with four bad batteries. Here's why... The batteries you're using to power your stereo are going to discharge while sitting. Even though it's a slow discharge, it's still a draw. When you plug the charger into the cart, the other four batteries charge faster than these two because they're not as deeply discharged. Once these four batteries reach a full charge, they are forced to continue to charge while waiting on the other two batteries to "catch up" to them. This will eventually ruin your set of batteries. Once this happens, a 48 to 12 volt reducer will suddenly seem very inexpensive..

Technically yes, but I would put a fuse block on the cart. And have the block run off the key switch.
