Dpi charger
Does the dpi charger charge faster than the club car power drive 3 charger. I'm actually suprized that it's much heavier than the power drive.

Re: Dpi charger
It's not about how fast the charger does it job ... But more importantly
How correctly it charges your battery for increased life span and range ... That is the question grasshopper Cheers! |

Re: Dpi charger
I understand how it charges! my Powerdrive 3 says 15 Amps and the dpi is 17amps. I was wondering if that extra 2 amps really makes a difference in time of charge.

Re: Dpi charger
I may help knock the sulfate off the plates and stir the electrolytes up off the bottom better than the 15 amp unit, resulting in a healthier battery

Re: Dpi charger
Scotty I never thought about it in that aspect either. Good information no matter how I look at it its a much better charger anyways.

Re: Dpi charger
Technically its slower because it never shuts off. I really like that it has a full charge anytime I'm ready to go.

Re: Dpi charger
Yep, they have a float charge mode which is certainly better than the PD chargers that only charge then quit.

Re: Dpi charger
On the serious side. The reason the DPI charger is faster is because it doesn't do an equalization charge every time you plug it in. The highest the charger voltage gets is about 58 volts. This is right at the gassing threshold. Just had another thought. If your batteries ever get out of balance you may want to have your old charger around to do an equalization charge on then. I think the charger will run wide open w/o an OBC. That is voltage wise not current wise.
