2004 Club Car IQ
I have recently purchased a 2004 Club Car and need assistance regarding motor braking. Can someone advise if this model has motor braking. On my first run I found it necessary to brake at all times and wonder if this is standard or perhaps there is something wrong.
I earlier rented an EZGO cart and found that the motor did most of the braking which was quite convenient. Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated. Graham ie first post |

Re: 2004 Club Car IQ
You may be comparing it to an Ezgo RXV AC drive cart. The regen braking in the IQ will not compare with this cart - you will have to push the brake pedal to slow and stop.

Re: 2004 Club Car IQ
If it's a 2004 it's the IQ system. The IQ system has "Pedal-UP" motor braking which will engage when you quickly release the accelerator. It will not bring the car to a complete stop. It simply gives a short burst of motor braking and then stops. You must use the brake pedal to stop the car. The later (2008.5 and up) Excel vehicles work more like what you are describing. If you are interested in converting the IQ to Excel, let me know. I can walk you through the conversion.

Re: 2004 Club Car IQ
I have now had the opportunity to do a second run with the cart as the course had been closed for maintenance. I cannot detect any difference in motor braking so I presume the function may have been disabled by a previous user. Is there any way I can visually determine if it has been disabled ??
Speed wise I think it runs pretty good but I only use it for golf and such is my ability the distances run are pretty short ! Another query I have. Is it possible to replace the amber battery meter with a digital or analogue meter ? Thanks Graham |

Re: 2004 Club Car IQ
OK
I haven't really given it a speed test. On my last run my gps gave me a max speed of 20kmh. But this was only on short golf type stops so I would imagine it would go faster than that. I will be out again next week so I will check then what my maximum speed is. Thanks Graham |
