2001 DS Rebuild Question
So, I'm nearing completion on my Ike rebuild and I just need a little nudge from some of you pros out there. I've replaced the motor, batteries, cables, V-glide, solenoid, FNR switch and most of the low voltage wiring. The motor was the last surprise to bump my budget to the limit (so the mrs. says) once again. Now that everything's in place and wired up I turn on the ignition, put the FNR switch in F and the wheels spin like crazy, same thing in reverse (only half speed). The problem is I haven't touched the accelerator pedal. When I push it down the wheels stop. I must have crossed a couple of wires somewhere, I know, but the diagrams I've downloaded from here haven't saved me. Anyone know which wires I've crossed?
And as usual, thanks for bailing me out. |

Re: 2001 DS Rebuild Question
Dont think there is any easy way around this .
I hope that you followed the wiring colors when you replaced them. I agree It sounds like you have miswired something either on the controller or the Vglide or motor. Get the Schematic check the colors and follow all the wires from the controller , Vglide and Motor. Good Luck . |

Re: 2001 DS Rebuild Question
Thanks for replying G. I'm not sure if it matters or not, but mine's the V-glide with resistors type of set up. Like this one.
I guess I was hoping I'd ran into a common problem that novices like myself stumbled into a lot. I'll be tied up through Saturday picking up another gasser, but I want to try to figure out this DS wiring snag this weekend. My sister and bro-in-law want to take it to his parents over Thanksgiving. Thanks for all the input. |

Re: 2001 DS Rebuild Question
Looks good however I do not see the wire color's labeled .
Here is what is the same Diag. with colors, disregard pointers these reference trouble/test procedures from the CC Maint/Service Manual. You guys really need to get the Service Maint Manual when U buy these things , the best $20.00 you'll ever spend on the cart. |

Re: 2001 DS Rebuild Question
Thanks for the input G. I finally broke down and called in some local pros to figure it out. Turns out I ordered the wrong (or was shipped the wrong) microswitches. The one in the V glide that's supposed to be normally closed was instead a normally open. The guy from the cart shop said he could order another one and install it for me (for a nominal fee of course) but I decided to perform a little surgery myself, just for spite. Popped the cover on the switch and reversed the contacts and everything works great. Thanks a lot for all the input and I'm sure I'll be begging for more help soon enough. Next up; a '94 Ez Go Gasser. Hopefully the one I get to keep for myself.
