Default Cart Security

Just want a refresher on this info. What's the best way to secure a cart from being stolen. I've seen spindle locks, steering locks, kill swithces, but what is a cost effective way to make a "sparky" difficult to steal. How easy is it to bypass a kill switch or re-keying. I don't want any major hardware to lug around...just a deterrent. Maybe a good ole "kriptonite" lock through the rims? Any help out there? I like kill swithces but carts at 1200lbs are pretty easy to roll with a little help...even onto a trailer.

I think a chain is best. Highly visible and effective. Theives are techs too. No gadget is around for long that they don't know how to defeat.......

I use a hidden kill switch in the Reed circuit and a long vinyl coated bicycle cable with a padlock secured to a post on my deck. They can't drive or push it away without tools.

Gorno,
How would I go about installing an inline kill switch on my cart (95CCDS48v)...any ideas. I agree, overnight security needs to be tied down, but what about that 15 mins. unattended while cruising around? Thanks.

BRS, a simple toggle switch in the key circuit will do it. Just cut one of the wires, install the switch, and you're good to go.

I have a shop, and a fence, a Rhodesian Ridgeback, a Shepard, and a Doberman. Come on, jump my fence. It'll be fun to watch! (The Dobe likes to sleep on the Cushman)

We have a golden and a Boston terrier. Either one will be happy to welcome you in to the yard and the Boston will go along for the ride when you drive the cart away.

thing to remember is those who are going to take it are probably scoping them out. if you have to lift the seat to hit a switch, they are probably watching.

there are new key switches available from cc as I hear..

an electric can also be hotwired with a aligator clip i think

bu sells a thing that will fit on a stock right spindle and the center of the cart. it has a spot to put a padlock. a cart won't go very far if it has to go in circles! you can probably could modify one or make your own that would work on a lifted cart?
