The squeaking is driving me NUTS! What can I do?
When I lifted my buggy I installed heavy duty leaf springs. I got them off eBay and am happy with them except that they squeak terribly. I have to spray oil on them every week or it drives me nuts! Did I get a crappy set of springs or is there something I can do to solve this problem?

Is the sound from the springs themself or maybe it's the bushings.

Maybe?
Actually, I have heard of someone mentioning this issue before, I think they cut some rubber, maybe from an old bedmat or something, and wedged between the leaves to stop the noise. |

Def not the bushings. I thought it was so I replaced them and still had the noise.

There's only the axle left, or, the new spring pack. Isn't there two in the HD? Might be springs rubbing together.

If it really is the springs, a layer of rubber (bicycle tubes work good) will stop it.
Just know if you fix that squeak another ones going to pop up, it always works that way. |

pachanga90 had the answer in a thread titled "Squeak from bushings". If you need to go with the squeak pads, try a trailer supply or spring shop (also for replacement bands if needed).

Re: The squeaking is driving me NUTS! What can I do?
Likely the squeak is coming from the springs rubbing each other. They have sharp edges on the ends. Remove them and grind or file the ends to round them off where they touch each other. They are working like nails on a black board.

This makes sense. Is there a way to get the bands off that hold the leafs together? Mine have two leafs and a shorter helper.

Some springs have pins that hold the clamp in place. You should be able to remove the center bolt and slide the leafs apart.
