Default Rotten egg smell when charging batteries

I have 2 year old, 8 volt, USBatteries. batteries are fine, and completly topped off with water.

Cart runs ok. But everytime i charge the batteries, about 2 hours into it, the rotten egg smell comes, and is horrible!

I thought the only time you get that sulphur smell, was if a cell was low. But these are all ful!!

Is there any other reason, why the batteries always smell when charging?

They were too full at one time. I removed water, down to the correct level, but it hasn't helped the smell any??

By removing water you may have changed the SG. Depends on how long it was over full.

Check you battery bank voltage. Then check each battery by its self. When your charger shuts off unplug it and plug it back in and measure the pack voltage, unplug afterwards if the voltage is higher than it should be.

The sulfur egg smell can be caused by over charging or batteries dyeing , either way your batteries are either gone or going, but if you figure out what killed them you can prevent in the future.

Only use distilled water. Anything other than distilled water will kill a battery. I even rinse my battery filler several times with distilled water before I use it to fill my cells. Do your best to never over fill, you want to maintain the factory level, over filling and removing acid will hurt your batteries.

Take a few minutes and measure each battery, and total pack voltage.
