Electric Cart-Outdoor Storage
I recently purchased a 2010 Club Car E that will stay at our home in Florida.
I am looking for the best way to store it and how to store it. Thanks in advance. |

Re: Electric Cart-Outdoor Storage
Great question! I will be doing the same thing. So, will be watching this thread.
My cart will stay at a lake place where it could be 1-3 weeks between visits. |

These carts do really well outdoors. Soft covers can protect upholstery etc from the elements. If it's a utility cart then you can just leave it exposed. I have ranch carts (vinyl seats) which have been left exposed for many years.

Re: Electric Cart-Outdoor Storage
What about the chargers? Is there any particular things we need to do or be worried about?
The cart salesman that I bought my cart from says that he leave his cart plugged in during the week with the cart place next to his camper with the charger underneath the camper on a small wood box/platform to protect from rain. |

Re: Electric Cart-Outdoor Storage
There are lightweight nylon, and/or heavy vinyl covers available - depending on your application. I use heavy in winter (I live where winter is REAL) and the lightweight nylon dust cover in summer. My personal belief is KEEP THE CART PLUGGED IN while storing. I got 11 good years (fairly unusual) out of my battery pack by doing that. The heat in FLA probably won't let you get that many years - but topped up batteries are healthiest. CC chargers monitor the level of charge, and recharge automatically when needed.

Re: Electric Cart-Outdoor Storage
What do you guys think about keeping it on a trickle charge? Our cart will go months in between use.
We are pretty limited in our space so it sound like a cover will be the way to go. Does anybody put there carts on blocks or get the tires off the ground? |

Re: Electric Cart-Outdoor Storage
For winter storage I back it onto 1/2" soft plastic pads under the wheels on the concrete to avoid flat spots (but wheels not off ground). Yes, I have just started using BatteryMinder for winter storage with my new pack - but there are more affordable versions that do essentially the same thing.

Re: Electric Cart-Outdoor Storage
I use a Sav-A-Battery From Granite Digital.48 volt maintainer keeps pack fully charged, Can keep it connected indefinitley. If power goes out it will restart when power returns. Only puts out 2 amps. Have mine almost 1 year , no problems. After full charge with standard charger , hook this up and walk away.
Keeps my 4 year old pack at a constant 53/55 volts. Also check out a thread by Olman he just uses this all the time. |
