Default DCX400 controller max/min voltage setting

Just wondering what is a safe range to set the under/over voltage setting at on the DCX400. Comes pre set at 16.0V and 60.0V

Thanks

I don't see any reason for the low setting to be below 30v. Your pack should not get below 40v under load anyway.

The high setting is fine, my stock Excel peaks above 60v using Regen brake down hill.

I think the most important setting is the Pedal Up setting. That setting is unique to each installation and it is determined by tire size, type of tire, differential gear ratio, motor, typical cart weight during operation and terrain.

The idea is to increase it in small increments until You no longer feel any difference in acceleration, then back it up one number.

That will be You maximum setting, anything higher than that and the additional current allowed will be converted to heat by the motor.

Of course You can always set it lower than that number according to personal preference.

16v is based upon 36v use but, it is too low in my opinion.
I prefer to protect the pack from being drawn down too far by setting low voltage at 27v for 36v and 40v for 48v systems. These numbers will allow for high use momentary drops in voltage but will also alert you to any battery problem that may exist.

I think 40V is to high for low voltage cut out. I've seen my battery voltage get down into the low 40's going up hill with a fresh charge. With a 400a controller it is likely to get below 40 and shut the controller down. I've got mine set for 20v. My 2 cents.

I think there is a problem if your 48v pack is dropping to 20v under load.
