well, I guess we've found another thing that it ISN'T. I got the new mcroswitch this afternoon and put it in. The solenoid now clicks, but it still doesn't move.
Any more thoughts?

I don't know if this will help at all (again, I have a general idea and can tell one end of a screwdriver form the other but I'm not the most mechanically inclined fellow you'll ever meet):
I went out at about 1am (couldn't sleep thinking about this flipping cart) and pushed on the accelerator and when the solenoid clicked (and it sounds really loud at that time of morning in the dark garage, FWIW) the taillights also blinked very, very dimly.
It probably means absolutely nothing, but I thought I would ask.
I'm afraid the flipping thing is about to get a trailer ride to the shop.

Thank You

That tail light blinking could be a good clue to solve the problem...

Do You know how the tail light is wired? Is a Voltage converter being used?

No Sir, I don't believe that there is a voltage converter.
To see exactly how they're wired I'll have to have a look this evening but if I recollect correctly it goes from the switch (off/on only....which controls both head and tail) to each light and the two batteries that sit directly under the drivers side of the seat for a 12V setup.

So there is a separate on/off switch for the lights and the switch was off at the time you saw the dim blink?

Do the lights work with the switch otherwise?

The pull switch for the lights was off, the main switch (key) for the cart was on. The headlights didn't blink at all, and the blink of the tail lights was dim enough that it would not have been noticeable had the garage not been completely dark.

Since the garage was dark, what You saw could have been a reflection from inside the cart, like a coil glowing red (or spark).

Please lift the wheels off the ground and very briefly press the pedal all the way down.

When the pedal is all the way down, all resistor coils are by-passed.

Do not allow the cart to run that way for more than a couple of seconds as Series motors have no speed control.

Will do that as soon as I get home.
I'm almost certain though that it was indeed the tail lights as I have the seat off and didn't see anything when I tried it the second time looking form under the cart. I had to stand up and press the pedal with my foot while looking at the back of the cart to figure out what it was. I was kind of hoping it was a "spark" or something from the motor.

Another disclaimer: I really have no clue what I'm doing and really appreciate all of the help form this forum.

Thank You

Am I correct in thinking it can't be the microswitch in the F/R lever since the buzzer sounds when shifted into reverse? And there are only two microswitches aren't there?

A buddy just asked, and I didn't know
