Default Can you polish plastic cowls & body?

I have some marks on the body I would like to polish out and shine up if possible, I never tried that on plastic, is there a way, like on a car?

I used to use Novus plastic polish to remove light scratches from Plexiglas. Seen it used on vintage items too.

I used 10 inch buffing wheel on a grinder with a good cleaner wax and on the black bumpers wet tire shine (the clear stuff) it's amazing how good it works, better than the black plastic spray

I would say yes, you can absolutely buff the body out. My brother has owned a detail shop for close to 15 years, and I've clocked some time in there over that time.

As miker said, an actual buffer/grinder with a good pad will get you a long way. Not the orbital style waxing buffer, but an actual high speed unit. A foam pad would be ideal.

Get an automotive polishing liquid from your local auto parts store. Start slow if you've never done it before. 12-1500 rpm will do it if its adjustable. If not, just go easy. Don't push hard, don't put the buffer up on edge. Let the pad do the work. Try and keep it flat.

You could do it by hand if you were really desperate. Or for a minimal investment, one of those Mothers balls would even do it. But for an entire body, an actual buffer is the way to go.

If that cart in the pic is what you're working on, I would take a few minutes to mask the black plastic bumpers off. Just to make clean up easy. It's surprising how stubborn that stuff can be to get off of it.

Better yet, just take the body off and work on it and put it back on when you get done. It's easy enough to remove and replace, especially with no roof. I have the black body on mine and never have been able to get it as nice as I wanted. Then my son flipped it over and let battery acid drip down one side. I just took the body off and sanded out the gouges and it's at my buddy's graphics shop getting a custom wrap put on.

Yea I really don't like green, not sure what I want so in the mean time I just wanted it to look a little better. I have a cameo wrap on the other cart, I like it.

I looked into getting a new body but was afraid it would just get old looking again at some point. Then I thought about getting a paint job but am still not sold on paint holding up on these flexible bodies, even though the 07 I bought last year was freshly painted and it's still holding up well. So, I went with a wrap in "digital urban night camo". Can't wait to see how it looks.
