Default Sluggish going forward

I have a 48V 2000 Club Car DS that I purchased used last year. I also installed 6 new batteries last year. When I place the cart in forward it is very sluggish and has a hard time starting out. I then placed it in reverse and the cart ran perfectly fine. Can someone please assist me with this? I am mechanically inclined however I don't know much at all about an electric golf cart.

Thanks

I would start with connects at the motor and then take a good look at the f/r switch cable and inner contacts

You may have the f r sw wired wrong. The cable for the rev may be on fwd and fwd on rev.

I will check all that is suggested. I haven't made any mechanical changes to the cart so hopefully the wires aren't crossed. I was also told that even though the batteries were purchased new last year that one could still have gone bad. Is it true that a cart usually only uses around 18V in reverse, which means it would run fine? If so, maybe I do have a bad battery?

Well, it turns out that I had 1 bad battery. Five of my batteries, new last year, tested between 8.5 and 8.9. The sixth battery was only 4.9. Exchanged the battery and now the cart runs as it should. Thanks for your assistance and to CCFanatic for the wiring diagram.

If that was the pack positive battery, make sure You have the charger receptacle red wire connected to that battery.

I have seen a few times new batteries go bad because they were never charged.
