Well when I upgraded my 48V 2003 I started with a set of 2 ga wires and a HD Solenoid from Scotty. That actually helped some but then I had to replace the F-R switch with one of Scotty's because it was getting hot. I then bought a FSIP 500 amp controller. This setup ran great because my cart was already lifted and had tall tires. I then tried a Plume Quick Bandit and was able to get some speed out of the cart on the streets. The torque was ok and the speed was fine. The last major mod was a special built EMP motor which set me back almost six bills. At that point the cart was absolutely KILLER. Several notes here.. I started with new t-875 batteries and added a FUSE in line in case of any high AMP meltdowns. Most here don't really think much of the fuse but it gave me a piece of mind after a buddy's cart "Melted Down".

You should listen to Scotty, CCFanatic, Sunco, Swan and 93YellowClubCar they help me all the way.

Good Choice and have fun with your build.

Replace that stock F&R with a CU heavy duty model to get the full benefit of a cable upgrade.

The very first thing you need to do is be completely honest with yourself and acknowledge that you've already been sucked in to the addiction. It would be wise for you to start clearing some stuff out of your garage to make some space for your second cart.

Welcome aboard.

OP before finalizing on a motor you need to lay the foundation (Wire, HD F-R Switch HD solenoid). I was really surprised how good my CC ran with the stock GE motor and my upgraded parts. It is good to know the basics of your desired motor especially in controller selections. Most motor companies will let you know about pass experiences with different controllers and their motors.

What is your desired top speed? My goal was 30 mph. I had stock 12:1 gear ratio and my tires were 22.5" tall so I know I needed at least a motor that would be able to pull the weight car to at least 5500 rpm. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/speed-calculator.php I sent these specs and that I wanted MAX torque to a custom motor manufacture and they told me my options. There are standard motors HP that came close but most weren't HD enough to get close to "bullet proof." D&D and Plume Quick websites are a wealth of info.

Hope this helps.

very nice cart, I see a new project

I agree, first performance expenditure get the cables and F/R switch. When you do it in steps only expect minimal changes if any,,,, then one day you put the final piece of the puzzle and BAM she's doing wheelies!

I desire is to use it as a family utility vehicle and we have two fishing ponds one 1/2 mile and the other 1.5 miles away. Plan on just putting a slow moving vehicle sign on it. So because of long distance I would like to get a little more speed.

Around the ranch it has been great so far.
