Cart moving 1/2 speed. Battery issue?

I just got a 1998 cart im assuming its 36v?

What year did they start making 48v?

Its moving at half *** speed (maybe 7-8 mph), but it does last quite a while. When i fully charge it all 6 batteries show 6.1 Volts. If you take it out for a 2 minute drive, 3 of the batteries drop to 3.8 V and stay there. Is this mean I need 3 new batteries? or could it be a controller issue? The cart sat for over a year not charged was hoping maybe it still worked. or at least if i can get away with only 3 new batteries.

Batteries are dead,bad,shot what is serial number of cart, look just above the go pedal. It could be a 48 volt cart in 1998.

CC made 48 and 36 volt carts from 1995 - 2004. All the 36v carts had the Crowsfoot charger plug. / \

All you need is a new set of batteries!

You can tell a six volt vs an eight volt by the number of water holes in the top of the battery...6v has three...8v has four. Do NOT just replace three batteries! They have to be replaced all together in a matched set.

The question is, can i get away with a set of 3 new batteries? Or do i need 6? Only 3 of the batteries seem to be dying why the other 3 seem to remain at 6v?

to be a little more clear, the 3 batteries remain at 6V even after riding for 10 minutes. The other 3 batteries drop to 3.8V and remain there.

Im not sure what that means its a 1998 36V. (thanks for helping me figure that out).

3 battery read 6v, 3 batteries read 3.8v. I only need this thing to run good for a weekend, so if I can get away with only 3 batteries please let me know.
