the cart was in tow mode but I did get a spark when I disconnected the wires from the motor and let them drop ..........then disconnected the battery's the cart dose try to go forward maybe an inch only shudders

The tow switch does not kill the power to the power circuit (#6 gauge wiring) but only to the control circuit to the OBC and the controller. It keeps the controller from powering up, but does not keep power from going to it. That's the problem unfortunately, you'll need a controller. I'm sorry to tell you that as they can get expensive, but that's what's wrong.

Would a Curtis 1510-5251 controller work in this cart? I've got an extra one I am going to sell.

well live and learn I thought I knew better and knew I should have disconnected the battery was just in a **** hurry,,,,,anyway I will get a new controller and let you know how it works out.....

You should look at getting a 350 amp controller while you are at it. I just put one on mine and am very happy with it. It will let you get more speed than just a stock controller.
