Re: speed sensor magnet problem
Are you certain you installed the sensor magnet correctly?
Do the roll away test to check the sensor: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...nsor-test.html |

Re: speed sensor magnet problem
Did you take the two screws on each side out. If so you may have dropped the bearing retainer. Not good.

Re: speed sensor magnet problem
I installed it as the instructions stated? not a lot to it as for the rollaway test It does not beep when it rolls now, but the seller did state if I put this magnet (Club Car IQ Golf Cart High Speed Magnet 2002+ GE Motor) in "***NOTE-- the regen braking will be disabled after installing this item ( will free-wheel downhill ).?

Re: speed sensor magnet problem
Did the cart run normally before the magnet was installed?

Re: speed sensor magnet problem
pop off speed sensor with a screwdriver and pop off the old magnet with 2 small screwdrivers(which broke the magnet) get the washer off the shaft, tap the new magnet and washer on the shaft until its flush, pretty much the instructions in a nutshell

Re: speed sensor magnet problem
If the magnet had a plastic face it should point to the inside of the motor.
The full magnet face should be towards the outside of the motor facing the speed sensor itself. |

Re: speed sensor magnet problem
I've seen these symptoms, but never when installing a magnet. This is the result of a controller failure. Most commonly this will happen when two of the motor posts connected to eat other via a piece of metal such as a wrench, a bolt, or a nut. I've seen it happen when mechanics would tear golf cars down to the frame before unhooking the battery pack and the hardware would fall on the motor and get wedged between two posts. It creates a short in the motor controller and you usually lose the ability to go either forward or reverse. The magnet and speed sensor circuit is totally separate from that circuit and they do not have anything to do with each other. Is it possible that you created an arc between two motor posts or worked on the battery pack without first putting the vehicle in the Tow position?
